Where will I be hosted ?

During this trip, you will sleep at a French "gite" in Accous, in the Aspe valley, in a double or triple room. Bedrooms are comfortable and meals delicious. The icing on the cake is the beautiful view of the mountains and the rest of the valley. Bathrooms are shared with one or two other rooms.

What to do around the gite ?

The gite is located in the Aspe valley, in a village named Accous (if available when the booking is requested, otherwise there is other options). It is ideally located at the foot of the mountains, you will have a fabulous view of the landscape.

As for the activities, you will be able to visit surrounding villages, go biking, fishing, paragliding, or to taste cheese....

What will I eat ?

During this experience, full board is included in the price of your trip. All of this from the dinner of the first day to the lunch of the fifth day. You will be welcomed in a gite, a French kind of independent guest house, incluiding breakfast with fresh bread, homemade jam, and local honey. In the afternoon, you will eat lunch boxes, usually made of gourmet salad and fruits. At night, local and delicious food will be served, with other travalers of the gite.

If possible, please specify food allergies or particular requests when booking.

Who is this adventure made for ?

Accepted Answer

This adventure is made for all large nature spaces and hiking lovers. You will be accompanied by a mountain guide, who will adapt to your physical condition and walking rythm. Many options are available when you go hiking to meet shepherds. You will walk around 4 hours a day, with around 300 to 400 meters of elevation.

The night with the shepherd can be adapted depending on weather and comfort requested, : cottage, shelter or tent.

What is the program with the mountain guide ?

With a certified mountain guide, hikes will be adapted to your physical condition and walking rythm. He lives next to the cheesemakers and know them very well. He will show you his passion for hiking, animals, plants and the beautiful people of his region.

This is a 5-day-long hiking and immersive experience, with 4 days of hiking.

Question 6

How is the experience with shepherds ?

Accepted Answer

You will meet shepherds who live around summer pastures. You will spend a night in a shepherd's cottage (or shelter/tent) and will have de opportunity to milk sheeps in the morning. During the day, shepherds will be happy to show you their passion for mountains, their animals and cheeses.

What should I wear when hiking ?

To go hiking, no need for sophisticated equipment : a 20/30 liter backpack, warm clothes, a raincoat, a flask, your lunchbox, a hat and.... good walking shoes will all be just fine.

A complete list will be sent when booking. For the night with the shepherd, a tent and a sleeping bag can be lent.

Question 8

When should I go ?

You will have the opportunity to meet shepherds in the mountains from June 15th to September 15th. This adventure is better in this period, but you can still hike and even sleep in the shepherd's cottage from May to October.
